Retouch is a length color refreshing and/or root coloring. Retouch can include color changing to darker shades, but not lighter.
Hair contouring is a colouring technique that lightens your hair growth line/face.It can vary in depth, width and shades.
Toner is an ammonia free color solution and can be described as a “topcoat for your hair.” It usually works to emphasise or de-emphasise certain tones in your hair, as well as add shine. Demi-permanent colors, glosses, and tinted shampoos and conditioners can all be considered toners, because they all contain pigments that adjust tone in your hair. Typically, the pigment delivered in toners can last about three to four weeks.
from dark roots to light ends. With the balayage technique you can reach effects like sunkissed hair, babylights, total color lightening, relief and gradient. You also can use this technique for full hair -or partially coloring, depending on the result you want to achieve. Although, balayage is a bleaching technique that is not only mutually exclusive for blondes. This technique can also be a base for multi-color tones. Balayage is perfectly suitable for natural -and light hair. If you have dark tinted hair, balayage could be perfect for you to reach chocolate, caramel and golden shades, but the contrast will be limited.
Highlighting is a hair bleaching technique. The lightened strands are selected with a comb and isolated in foil. Their width, density and frequency may vary depending on the desired result. With this technique you can achieve glare, volume, blonding, create contouring and other effects. It’s a great solution for hiding partial gray hair.
Airtouch is a technique for lightening hair, a type of highlighting, invented not so long ago by colorist Vladimir Sarbashev. The feature of this technique is that bleached hair is blown by a hairdryer, which gives a very interesting result. This technique can be used partially (mini-airtouch) to create effects, gradient, volume, contouring etc. Airtouch is also great for blonding all hair, giving a soft transition when the roots grow. Using this technique, you can achieve good contrast between light and dark hair.
Dim-out is a technique of darkening the roots. It’s suitable for blondes who want to grow their natural hair, get a more natural blonde look, and create a gradient. Dim-out is a reverse balayage technique that transforms your full blond hair to gradient.
Total blond/bleaching is a hair coloring technique into superblond shades. In almost all cases bleached hair requires further toning because bleaching is not coloring and hair requires further saturation and color correction. Bleached hair get tinted with different ways and materials (permanent/semi permanent paints, direct pigments, masks, shampoos, etc.). It is important not to forget about hair care, because lightening is a fairly aggressive coloration. Olaplex and a good home care will help you with this.
Hello, my name is Elena Smirnova and I’m an artist from Riga, Latvia. From my early childhood, I was a very creative girl, and loved to paint. I painted not only on paper and walls, but also on people. All of my family members had to get their make-up done by me. I remember when I was six years old, I did the hair and make-up of my grandmother and one of her friends. And they were not ashamed to go out with it!
So, when the time came to choose my profession, I had no doubts what to study. At age fifteen, I went to my first hair -and make-up school. Until now, I’m expanding my knowledge, attending different courses, workshops and online studies, offered by the best professionals in the field. Examples are TonyGuy, Vidal Sassoon, Valentina Miller, L’Oréal and many others.
In my fifteen years of experience, I’ve worked in beauty salons, photo/video shootings, weddings, fashion shows, television shows, magazines and alongside famous artists like Serebro, Irina Bogushevskaya, Ivar Kalninjsh and others.
The last nine years, I’ve lived in Amsterdam and this city made a true artist out of me. Painting on hair and face wasn’t enough for me, so I started to paint on canvases as well. I’m learning from various talented painters, different styles, techniques and materials. My work was also exposed in two art shows, of which I’m very proud of.
Here in the Netherlands, people think that hairdressers don’t have the intellectual capacity to have a better job. I want to prove that hairdressing is an art and requires intelligence and precision! When I work with my clients, my goal is to create the most beautiful, and practical style that is easily maintainable for a long time, without my involvement. This approach requires deep knowledge, time and mathematical equations. I spend more time with my clients, because I value quality over quantity. That’s the reason I only work by appointment.
At the moment you can find me in my beauty & art studio Garage, located in the city center of Haarlem (15 minutes from Amsterdam). In Garage I’m building a team of highly skilled professionals like hairdressers and colourists, manicurist, permanent make-up artist, cosmetologist, dermatologist, make-up artist. In Garage you also have the opportunity to learn some art and beauty skills with our workshops. We’ll keep you informed about the official opening and check the news on our social media.
